Purnacandra Goswami:

The acaryas explain that although the personalities are all real and factual, and although the pastime, the history is actually factual and real, that still all the personalities present or have some simbolic representation. Like Devaki represents bhakti, because Krishna appears from bhakti. Krishna appears from Devaki's womb. Krishna can come from bhakti: bhaktya mam abhijanati ... One can only know Krishna thru bhakti (...) The six sons that were killed before Baladeva appeared represent the evil things that harras the devotee: lust, anger, etc. And these things must be cleared away right before the Lord will appear. The devotee must become fearful of falling again in material illusion. The devotee must be afraid of maya. And Prabhupada said: "My disciples are nice, but they are not afraid enough of maya." Because maya is very powerful, and if maya can grab you, then you're finished. (09.08.2006)

You can't distribute a book, or you can not bring someone to Krishna conscioussness unless you have some empowerment by the Lord. Some of that Baladev shakti  has to be in you. And it just grows and grows as you advance. (09.08.2006)

Manidhara Prabhu:

Srila Prabhupada originally very intelligently wanted to create a "mini ISKCON" in India. By training a crew of bengali devotees who each single one would be the expert in some art ...  Preaching art also, even mridanga, cooking, everything, all these departments. And then, with that crew he was planning to arrive in west. So that western people can immediately see: "Oh, that's how a vaisnava looks like." (10.08.2006)

It is stated in Bhagavatam that in Kali yuga you'll be considered intelectual just because you can nicely put some words together. People think: "Oh, this sounds very nice." Of course, it doesn't make any sense, but people don't care for this very much. They say: "This is so genious what he says, nobody can even understand." The scientists even invented their own language, so know, so people can not understand anything. And they think: "This is so scientific, I can not understand one word." So Prabhupada came and he torn down all the hypocrites. (09.08.2006)

In between the superlative level of bhakti, and the level of envy of Krishna, is the level of understanding Krishna's opulences and thus engaging in His devotional service. (10.08.2006)

They have made a logical hole in their way of thinking that violence to human being is very bad, but violence to animals is ok, nothing wrong with that. It doesn't count ... Because, according to christianity, animals don't have souls. So even though they keep slaughterhouses away from the cities, a long way, so that people can't hear the animals screaming, they don't see the blood and the terror of animals. They rationalize, that they are only animals, so there is no harm in killing them.(...) But because people are more interested in their own sense grafitication, therefore they say: "Yea, we believe in non-violence, but only to humans". (10.08.2006)

It's a world of violence. Because everyone is envious and everyone is exploiting everyone else. We come here in Lika to see the beautiful nature, but a beautiful nature is all the: jivo jivasya jivanam ... All different living beings are struggling, even the plants are fighting with each other for space and light. So, it's a violent world. (11.08.2006)
